Already the human race is lagging behind . Any further delay may change the prospectus of the coming generation. We need to act now. Obama after a nobel laureate needs to huddle with world leaders on the climate change. Today US shares the greatest percentage of the green house gases being emitted in our atmosphere. It was only US the Montreal summit on climate change failed.
Today the economic scenario is not so bright but this gives no excuse to world leaders to compromise on climate. What we will do of development if our future is destroyed ?
Be serious ..............This going to be threat to our existence . Companies need to bear some losses to protect the climate. Coming generations have also the same rights to enjoy the beauty of this planet. The rate at which temperature is increasing ........sooner the whole arctic ice will melt. I believe the consequences will be far more cruel then being projected.
The differences of opinion exists between developing and developed countries . India's position : Since the developed countries had created the major part of pollution , they comprised our existence and went for industrialization an d hence they only need to act . Developing countries will follow the same path and we are not going to set any target since our present emission per capita is low. Being an Indian I am ashamed of my government policy . Atmosphere does not belong to a single country . Whatever happened in past that need not to be repeated in future .No one will be benefited if we fight for what happened in past. We have to learn from past .The stand should be :
we are ready to cut our emissions and we ready to compromise with our growth . We are ready to walk with shoulder to shoulder to save our planet . But since we do not have the cutting edge technology and the recent inventions in the field of green technology we need help of developed nation. We are ready to upgrade our polluting power plants and even close them if we are provided with technology with affordable prices . We cannot just walk over the problem by saying that menace is created by developed nations . This problem is our problem and we will do everything to resolve . Developing countries should not create obstacles and the nation of Gandhi should lead the developing world in this conference . An eye for eye will make the whole world blind. India is the same county which pioneered the Non Alignment Movement . Where is our visionary leadership ?
But the developing nations feel that their future is being sabotaged . Whatever little was agreed in Kyoto protocol is not implemented till now.The world's nations promised nearly two years ago to hammer out a new global agreement by the end of 2009 to slash the heat-trapping greenhouse gases that drive global warming. Now they cannot turn back . There is need of a global commitment. Leaders should join their hand . Yaah It is difficult and each one has to face some resistance back at home. Developing nations should pressurize US to take decisive actions and new decisive law should be enforced.
